Backup File Naming

Post by 427CobraMike »

How can I Sequentially name the backup files so that they don't overwrite the previous file everynight?
After performing a few test backups, I realized that the backup files(zipped) are sequentially named, but the previous files are deleted after the NEW backup is finished.
Why is that done?
Is there a way to prevent those files from being deleted?
See attachment
I tried to upload an attachment but got this error:
Could not upload attachment to ./files/5000_4e01b798e744dcb33538279507395e2d.

Hi,

This is how FBackup is designed to work: it will keep only the latest backup version.
If you want to keep in destination multiple backup versions, please consider our commercial application: Backup4all (http://www.backup4all.com)

Just to clarify - the program keeps the most recent backup for a particular job, and deletes previous versions, is that correct?
Thanks.

Hi,

If using the Full backup type, the old version is deleted and only the new backup is stored in destination.
If using the Mirror backup type, the new and modified files will be copied to destination overwriting the old file version. The old file which were not modified are still preserved in destination.
