Backup Issues with Fbackup and MS Access for Standard Users

Post by Anthona »

Hello,
I'm currently using Fbackup to back up my MS Access databases (*.accdb). I've observed that when the Windows user is set as a standard user, the backup fails if the database is open. However, if the user has administrator privileges, Fbackup successfully copies the database even while it's in use. Is this behavior expected? Is there a way to configure Windows settings to allow standard users to utilize Volume Shadow Copy for backing up files that are currently open?
Thank you!

Hi,

Volume Shadow Copy is considered a system-level backup feature, so Windows restricts it to: Administrators, SYSTEM and Backup Operators. You cannot make it available for standard users.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
