pausing/stopping a job

Post by thatgirl »

I'm running Win 8.1, and attempting to make a fresh mirror backup of 450gb of data from one external drive to a freshly formatted 2nd drive. I am at two and a half days, and only at 32%. I have to travel on Thursday, and at this rate, the job will not be done.

1) Is this duration normal/expected?
2) If I pause or stop the job, then reboot, can I resume it when I return in a week where I left off?

Thanks!

Hi,

1. The backup time depends on the read/write speed of your external drives and also on the computer performance. Our tests here were much faster.
2. If you use the Mirror backup tpe, you can stop the backup. That will close the backup catalog and next time when you run the backup will backup the remaining files.

Thank you for your response. I am backing up from a 5400 rpm per disk raid 1 USB 3.0 device to another raid 1 USB 2.0 device. I am at 84% right now.

Hi,

Can you compare the speed of the backup for 1 GB of data with the speed of copying the same 1 GB of data to the same location using Windows Explorer?
