Recently (but before updating to version 4.8 Build 284, I think I was using build 264) FB started skipping C:\users\Owner\ntuser.dat and C:\users\Owner\ntuser.dat.LOG1 & Log2. The logs state the following:

Warning: Skipping file C:\users\Owner\ntuser.dat

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (TLFNFileStream.CreateFile) (srFileOpenError)
Warning: Skipping file C:\users\Owner\ntuser.dat.LOG1

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (TLFNFileStream.CreateFile) (srFileOpenError)

and the same warning for C:\users\Owner\ntuser.dat.LOG2
The computer has been rebooted several times, and no apps were open except FB. I am logged on as Owner (Administrator).
Any idea why these important files are being skipped?
Thanx,
Mike

Hi,
Please note FBackup was not designed for system backup, but for data files backup only.

You won't be able to restore the OS.

Probably those files are in use by Windows.
Backing up open files has the following limitations: It works

- only on Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 2008

- only for users with administrator access rights to copy open files

- only on local hard drives

- only on NTFS formatted partitions

- only if the VSS (Volume Shadow Service) is running and it is properly configured
If all of the above are true and still cannot backup open files please see: http://www.backup4all.com/download/pdf/ ... ervice.pdf

Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
