Re: Is Fast mirror not working in v8.0.155?

I have just one piece of advice, which may or may not be related to your problem. I used to have a terrible time with this software not backing up newer files, having files deleted on the destination drive that shouldn't have been in mirrored backups, etc. There were complaints from the software abo...

Re: "USN change journal cannot be used"

That makes sense, although I will note that the 1809 Windows 10 update has been pulled from its initial release due to numerous problems. It may be that not very many FBackup users actually installed it. However, I have experienced this kind of problem before the 1809 update, but I never read the lo...

Re: "USN change journal cannot be used"

Thank you for that tip. I hadn't realized that the "smart scanning" option is what selects usage of the USN journal. I'd have to conclude that the associated history file somehow got corrupted, resulting in the deletion of files that shouldn't have been deleted. I will remove that selectio...

"USN change journal cannot be used"

This is a recurring problem I have with FBackup that ultimately makes me lose faith in the integrity of mirror-type backups made by this program. Here is what happens far too regularly: (1) I create a mirror-type backup that works just fine for a while, spanning dozens of backups. (2) Then one day, ...

Re: Why does it not keep the backup up-to-date after backing up?

My answer: Fbackup isn't working correctly. I hate to be too critical of free versions of anything, but this software is downright dangerous if you value the files you're backing up and expect a "mirror" backup to have the same files as the source. Tonight I did an experiment with a Mirror...

Files were deleted in backup target directory

In using Fbackup as of April 05, 2018, I noticed in the log messages that some files in the destination folder for a Mirror-type backup were deleted. The deleted files were still present in the source directory, so this was not a case of files being deleted in the target that didn't exist in the sou...

Updating from version 5 to 6

I've been reluctant to update to version 6 because, in my attempted upgrade from 4 to 5, I found that I had to recreate all my jobs. This was a tremendous nuisance. Recreating the jobs themselves was not a big deal, but the first mirror backup for each takes a long time, and that's where the pain co...

Re: Backup will not run on schedule

Since upgrading from v5 to v6 the scheduler doesn't work for me either. It simply ignores my schedules. No error messages. Nothing.
These are exactly the same .fkc files I had been using previously in v5, loaded directly into v6.

Re: Something wrong with the FBackup network?

Like I said, I had to resort to extreme registry backup measures in order to correct the problem wrought by your 358 build. Since I wasn't able to log into my computer, not even in safe mode, in a rescue mode I had to manually move files from an old registry backup directory into the current registr...
