Error Launching UI with msg "Restart the IPC server"

Post by AnnMarieE »

A few weeks ago I moved from FBackup 4.8.0.286 to 5.0.325 and after the first day I got the message:

Do you want to restart the IPC server?
There was an error while trying to connect to the IPC Server
Timeout waiting for a reply to imtRegister 0

After installing 5.0.336 I still get the error when trying to start the UI.
I did hope your update would have resolved this.

I have enabled the entire folder to bypass the Vipre Virus Scanning software and there is no Firewall enable on that machine.
The last log written when I tried to start the UI is the following:

This morning after installing 5.0.336 it still doesn't launch the UI and still get the message:

Do you want to restart the IPC server?
There was an error while trying to connect to the IPC server
Timeout waiting for a reply to imtRegister 0

The end of the log file previously used to read:
[30/01/2014 19:00:16] Ipc warning: Start communication failed.

Where as now it reads:
[03/02/2014 09:25:17] Ipc warning: Register failed :

Obviously there is something still clearly wrong which you haven't resolved yet but I do hope you resolve this soon.

I wasn't aware there was a newer build available. However I can't find 5.0.359.
I downloaded and updated to 5.0.358, and yes I get the same error. I tried to upload a screenshot but it didn't work.

Hi,

We were not able to reproduce the problem here on our Windows 2003 OS. It is not fixed yet.

Hello,

I am also having this problem on a 2003 server. Ran once nicely, and now I can't get it to launch. Where can I get an earlier version to try?

Hi,

Please try again with the latest version 5.0.414.
You cannot download the previous version from us as it is no longer supported.

I had the same problem with build 396 (That was my first in V5...had been running V4 up to that point). Updated to build 414 and it has gotten worse. Now, I get the IPC warning right at start up - so can't even get to the control panel to execute any actions, look at logs, etc. (Click "Yes" and it cycles right back to the same IPC failure warning, click "No" and it closes the app.) Don't know about the rest of you, but it looks like it's time to move on to another service. Too bad - Version 4 was such a dream to use.
