Error with Scheduled Backup to Network location

Post by TimW »

I'm afraid I haven't been able to find a solution in previous posts, so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

We are upgrading our machines to FBackup5 so I've been trialing it on one PC. Our current set up is a scheduled daily backup at night that mirrors a large folder to our NAS. The backup does run manually but fails to run automatically, with the error "Cannot create folder. The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect".

So far I've added the entire FBackup folder to the windows firewall exception list and my user account has been added to the Local Security Policy (and it is also an Administrator account). It's important that the backup can run while the PC is locked and users are logged out.

We also have the same setup on another machine that is simply mirroring a folder to a local harddrive but it seems to have the same error.

Any insight you could give would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

Have you selected a subfolder or you try to put the backup in destination root?

Hi there.

The destination is in a subfolder. It goes to "\\Server\Backup\Survey\"

When I test the connection it tells me it's fine and the job will run if I run it manually, just not the scheduled one.

Yesterday I also tried to set FBackup to shutdown after running the backup job. I ran the job manually but FBackup failed to shut down. This might be linked to the same issue. The following error was in the log:

[27/11/2014 17:49:13] Run program/action "<Shut down>"
[27/11/2014 17:49:24] Could not find running instances of bShutdownSched.exe or bShutdown.exe in order to process "saPowerOff" notification
[27/11/2014 17:49:24] SetShutdownRights failed with error: Not all privileges or groups referenced are assigned to the caller(1300)
[27/11/2014 17:49:24] ExitWindowsEx failed with error: A required privilege is not held by the client(1314)
[27/11/2014 17:49:24] Warning: Could not execute action "<Shut down>". Reason: "A required privilege is not held by the client (1314)"

Hi,

Do you use a local administrator account or a domain account?

Apologies for the delayed response.

This is an administrator account, not a domain account.

Hi,

Please make sure you have the latest version of FBackup 5.2.663.
I just tested it and it works with no problem.
