Loved it, for a few days. First couple of days the backup worked fine on one of 2 PCs (vista on both). However on the other, no matter how I schedule, it won't run. Now, after this machine backed up automatically just fine twice, it now sits and idles saying it is creating the shadow for hours. Even if I remove the schedules and just run the backup, it hangs creating shadow on both machines. I have uninstalled. Should I try a clean install? Does virus software have any effect? I have it set to run even if I'm not logged on...do I need to wake the computer? Is the program using the Task scheduler or not? Do I need the program to be in my startup folder too?

Thanks, seemed like a miracle program for a few days.

**** What is this crap! No files backed up. I am no idiot and have a dozen files and folders added to be backed up. All I got was an empty folder.
I just need a mirrored backup of every file and folder in the properties every time I click back up. How hard is that???

The problem may be that it isn't actually looking at the destination to see what is there. It should look there when mirroring to overwrite any old copies, add new ones and replace missing files.
Right now I have several empty folders due to mistakingly thinking that I wanted a full backup and then changing it to mirrored after learning of my mistake. In this case the program must check to see what has actually happened, delete the zip file and folder as promised truky again with a new backup.
Also there needs to be a way to ALWAYS backup as a mirror and making it the default since that is what most people expect when making a full backup. During the Install wizard and on the new screen it should show what is happening and direct a person to changing it so that we don't waste an hour trying to get this flawed program to do anything and still not having much backed up.

Hi,
From another post I understand you used to delete the fkc catalog files.

Please note that FBackup does not look in destination to see the backed up file but is looking in the fkc catalog, where the files information is stored.

If you delete those files, a new complete mirror backup will be performed.

I seem to have something similar, it just jumps to a full load on one core and stays there indefinitely (well, at least as long as a good night's sleep). It seems to be a problem with the backup job itself, because recreating it under a different name means it will almost immediately go past "creating backup list" and start doing a volume shadow copy.
I haven't touched the fkc catalogs on the backup destination, just created new jobs with the same settings. Fbackup did start a full copy and created a new fkc though, I assume you use some sort of identifier in it?

Hi,
If you still have the problem using the latest build, please send us the last backup log to info[at]fbackup[dot]com

Didn't realise a new build was out, all backup jobs now run flawlessly. I assume the problem was with VSC then?
