I completed the backup using V5 and it too about 27 minutes just to verify the files. There are 129163 files, 419 GB. The entire backup including verification took about 10 hours.
I deleted the backup and went back to V4.9. Same backup. Although the backup is not done yet, the file verification part is. Same amount of files and data size took only about a minute for file verification.
There is a massive difference between V4.9 and V5.
I will update the complete results tomorrow after the current backup completes. My guess is that the backup time not including file verification will be pretty much the same between releases. It look like the problem lies with the file verification part only, but we'll see what the final results show tomorrow.
I wonder why they aren't using the same algorithm for file verification that they used in V4.9?
Final results: With the backup mentioned above, here are the results:
Version 5 - File Verification ~27 minutes, Backup ~9.5 hours, Total ~10 hours
Version 4.9 - File verification ~1 minute, Backup ~5 hours, Total ~5 hours
Although V5 build fixes allot of bugs, there is a major performance issue with it.
I will send the log files to Softland tonight when I get home from work
