FBackup - Receiving "Source error (code 87)"

Post by skadman »

I've set up a mirror backup to mirror selected folders to a flash drive on Windows 11 laptop. That worked out for 1000s of files being mirrored and ended up with "Warnings" for six files.

In each warning, the reported issue is the same:
[5/20/2023 8:43:24 PM] Warning: Skipping file C:\Users\<username>\Desktop\<filename>
Source error (code 87). The parameter is incorrect. (\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy6\Users\<username>\Desktop\<filename>).
... <username> is actually my user name on the laptop
... <filename> Is actually the name of the given file that was skipped in the mirror backup

What is this issue? How can this be addressed?

Thank you.

Hi,

1. Can you manually copy that file to another location?
2. Do you have this problem with the same files every time you run the backup?
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
