Fbackup repeated failure with no coherent error message

Post by tymieniecki »

I create a monthly copy of my backup and run accordingly. Recently I have been getting a Backup failed panel, I look in th elog and find this:
[28/12/2014 11:54:12] FBackup 5.2.663
[28/12/2014 11:54:12] C:\Program Files (x86)\Softland\FBackup 5\bBackup.exe /GUI {11111111-1111-1111-1111-222222222222} /JOB {5A51948A-A308-4A31-8312-A70F189D714F}

[28/12/2014 11:54:12] Opening file "C:\Users\TymiFamily\AppData\Roaming\Softland\FBackup 5\FBackup.hst"
[28/12/2014 11:55:32] Error: Invalid command line parameter or no imtStart messager received!
[28/12/2014 11:55:32] Closing file "C:\Users\TymiFamily\AppData\Roaming\Softland\FBackup 5\FBackup.hst"

As my passport drive is of finite space 500GB, I delete old backups every few months, but I do not delete the past FBackup jobs, is this perhaps a clue, so perhaps when trying to load past job catalogues it all goes awry

Any ideas.

Hi,

FBackup keeps only the last version of the backup, the previous one is deleted when a new backup is created. So there is no need for you to manually delete the previous backup from destination.
Do you have the same problem if you create a new backup job?

The sad answer is yes. :( I create a monthly backup job copying the last run job and changing the name and destination disc. When I try to run the job always fails with " Backup could not be started" having first spent a good 10 minutes 'thinking'.
I found that if I edit the Description field in the box, the job will run. This is most odd behaviour and I suspect something is being overwritten at that point other than just the new description, which is not touched when you simply copy a past job and change the name and destination folders. The destination drive is always a .5TB WD Passport.

Hi,

Please download the latest version 5.2.685 and see if you still have the problem.
Do you use multiple USB drives in a rotation destination disk scheme?
