FBackup 9.7 Windows 11 new install
after creating a backup job (mirror, files) and running it the file copy completes but the job stays at Update Catalog and never completes, also trying to stop or cancel the backup then never completes either
how do I fix this?
FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
Re: FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
I am seeing the same problem. W10 Pro 21H2 FB 9.7 613. Have tried the FB links to update to 617, but all the links I have tried go to 613.
Update: No success. I deleted the app. All the jobs stayed in place. Reloaded 9.7 613 (it showed a 6/6/22 update so maybe it really is 617, who knows) The job ran thru all the new files, then my backup drive just goes steady "ON". Logging ceased. After 5+ minutes I stopped the job.

Re: FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
I uninstalled the old version and removed all app data then installed build 617 using the link provided then re-created the backup job and ran it, this time letting it run till it completed, and yes it did eventually complete
the total time for the job was 51 minutes - the size was 60,154 files, 3.7 GB, backing up C:\Users to another partition on the same local drive
the actual copying of files took 4 minutes, the test took less than a minute, the rest of the time seems to have been spent creating and updating the catalog file which seems an inordinate amount of time compared to the actual time to physically copy the files!
can anything be done to improve this?

Re: FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
this is a Mirror backup job copying new/changed files only, I have just run the job again - 37 files to be backed up, copying took less than a minute but after 15 minutes it shows it is still updating the catalog, I will leave it to run to completion

Re: FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
Hi,
I cannot reproduce the problem here.
Please send us the last backup log and the .fkc catalog file for that job, from the backup destination.
Send them to info[at]fbackup[dot]com

Re: FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
I also downloaded the v9.7.617 using the link provided on this Board, deleted the old app and associated files. I started my Monthly Backup 3 from the fkc file on the backup drive. The job backed up 12 files totaling about 16,000Kb. This number is correct since I had run the same job recently. The total backup has about 67,000 files, 350GB.
The backup took about 11 minutes. 8 minutes of that was the "update catalog" routine.

About three hours later I ran the same job by highlighting the job in FBackup and pressing the F6 key. This time there was only 3 files to backup.
The "update catalog" routine took 10 minutes.

I ran the same job again with "smart scan" turned off. The "USN Journal Status..." warnings in the second run did not appear in this run. The "update catalog" routine took about 8 minutes of a total 10 minutes time.
The update catalog does seem to take quite a bit of time.

Re: FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
I have had 3 attempts to send the files to you with no success - at first I thought it was because of catalog file size, but last attempt was a very small log file. The message returned is:

Re: FBackup stuck on Update Catalog after backup
6/14/22 I sent a copy of my backup log to the [email protected] address yesterday morning (my time). This morning I had a reply email with a link to a build - 9.7.623.
I have downloaded 623 and ran a backup with it. The backup only took about 2 minutes (the earlier build took 10 to 15 minutes on this same backup).
Whatever fix they made seems to have worked.
