Fbackup5 giving 1000s of warnings

Post by ghghtgh »

I have just upgraded to Fbackup5 and am getting 1000s of warnings.
I am doing a mirror backup from a <source> drive to a network drive<destination> and many of the warnings follow the same format:

Found file <source>\path_to_file
Added file <source\path_to_file
Deleting file <destination>\path_to_file
Warning: File "<destination>\path_to_file" not found in backup, skipped.

The backup process was working perfectly with Fbackup4.

Can anyone help me understand why this transition has not worked?

I have sent the log file zipped up (sent UK time: Tue 03/09/2013 20:46). You should have it by now. I also ran a test on the backup and this passed OK. However the backup does not contain the files that were deleted and so it is a 'partial' mirror. This is really a problem as I have no idea whether the key files are backed up or not. :( Can you make a recommendation how to solve this problem please? Thanks - in hope.

Hi,

I understand you have some source files that are not in backup because they were deleted from backup.
Can you tell me if those files were manually deleted or FBackup deleted them?

Fbackup deleted them from the destination - it should not have deleted them as they were still on the source.

Hi,

That is the first time we receive such a report. Please create a new backup job and let us know if the problem appears again.

Was this issue ever resolved.
I had been using V4, no issues. V5 thousands of copy files, delete files, warnings.
I removed V5 from one machine running Windows 7 (64) due to this.
Another Laptop Windows 8 does not seem to have this problem, but I am nervous.

This issue was NEVER resolved.
My recommendation is DO NOT use V5.
V4 was OK.
I spent HOURs and HOURS trying to resolve this issue with softland and gave up. Life is too short.
Softland really needs to test software before issuing it.
As a consequence I abandoned this product range completely.
Sorry for not posting a reply.

Thank you, I removed it from one machine and I think I will remove it from the other. I have already spent too much time making new backups, testing, recopying, deleting, etc.
I am using another simple program (freeware) I found which seems to meet my needs for exactly the usage you described.
Mirror folder backup to a network drive (sync).
