I want to create a backup over a local network, but I want to install the backup program on the target computer. That is, the FBackup program will run on computer A and save the backup there, but it will retrieve the files to be backed up from computer B. However, when I specify the folder on computer B as the source folder, it gives an error, even though file sharing is enabled there. What should I do?
thank you for help

Hi,
Backing up files from network shares is not allowed in FBackup. You need our commercial product "Backup4all" for that.

Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

Hey!
The issue is likely related to network permissions or how FBackup accesses the shared folder. Try these steps:
Map the network folder as a drive on computer A first. Go to This PC > Map network drive, select a letter (like Z:) and enter the path to computer B's shared folder (\ComputerB\SharedFolder). Make sure to check "Reconnect at sign-in" and enter credentials if needed.
Once mapped, use the mapped drive (Z:) as your source in FBackup instead of the UNC path. This usually solves permission issues.
If it still fails, check that computer B's sharing permissions allow full read access for the user running FBackup on computer A. Also make sure both computers are on the same network and workgroup, and that network discovery is enabled on both.
Another quick fix: run FBackup as administrator on computer A to avoid permission blocks.
Give it a shot and let me know if it works!

@ChrisDev
The solution won't work as the features included in FBackup are limited (free version). The commercial edition "Backup4all" includes all features.
