Problems with FBackup after installing new external backup drive

Post by [email protected] »

I am the maintenance person for my sister's computer. I recently installed a new external hard drive for her. Even though I double checked to make sure that the new external drive has the same drive letter for her backup jobs as the previous external drive, FBackup only backs up the files that had not been previously backed up. I believe she is running FBackup 5.xxxx on Windows 8.1 Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated !

Hi,

If you use the Mirror backup type, by default only new and modified files will be backed up. If you want to back up all files every time, please open Backup Properties->Type.
Select "Mirror" and uncheck the "Fast mirror" option, then press "Save".

We also recommend you to install for free the latest version of FBackup 7.4.497.

Thank you for your reply, but I think you misunderstand my problem. I do have it set up for a mirror backup, and I understand that it will only back up new or edited files. What I am trying to find out is how to get the files that were previously backed up to the old external drive to get backed up to the NEW external drive.

Hi,

That is exactly what I understood and I also gave you instructions for that.

If you want to back up all files again, please open Backup Properties->Type.
Select "Mirror" and uncheck the "Fast mirror" option, then press "Save".
Run the backup. All files will be backed up on the new external drive.

Then open Backup Properties->Type.
Select "Mirror" and check the "Fast mirror" option, then press "Save". Next time you'll run the backup, only new and modified files will be backed up.
