removing FB from startup - Windows 7

Post by barryman »

How do I stop FB from starting up as my bootup time needs speeding up. I have already unchecked all boxes in Options/Startup but when I boot up I see in Task Manager that a file called btray.exe"32 is starting up and delaying boot up/. How do I stop this from loading??

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

On Windows 7, please press Start button, type: msconfig and press Enter
A new window will appear. Go to Startup tab and see if there is any entry for FBackup.

I have already done that. I uncheck in msconfig / startup and all is ok until I next run FB and it places the file btray.exe back in the startup list!!! I've also unchecked all boxes in FB Options/Startup. What can I do to stop it reloading into startup whenever I use the program?? It seems to use 30,000k of memory

Forgot to add - the description of the file says it's a FBackup - Taskbar notifier

Hi,

Please go to File->Options->Startup and uncheck the "Show tray icon" option.
Press OK.
Do you still have the problem?

yes, yes, yes, I have done all of that and it disappeared from the startup list in Msconfig. But as I have explained, as soon as I open up FBackup for use, it sticks the file btray right back in there!!!! It says Taskbar notifier in the description.

So now what???

Hi,

Try to enable and disable the option back.
