Scheduled Jobs Do Not Run

Post by pcsjohnstone »

I've installed FBackup 5.0.218 on a Win 7 Pro (64 bit) machine. I've created the backup job and it runs fine manually, but the scheduler is not working.

I am logged on as the local user who has adminstrator rights (ex. computername\user". I create a scheduled job using the Scheduler function in the properties of the backup job and I set it to run under the "computername\administrator" account (run whether the user is logged in or not) instead of the user, it does not show up in the scheduler window (in the backup job properties). It shows up in Task Scheduler (Windows) under Softland\FBackup 5 and that task runs sucessfully, but it doesn't trigger the backup job to start. Here's what I see in the service log when the scheduled task ran:

Running other scheduled tasks this way (ex. updates, batch files, etc.) all works fine. I want to run this as the local adminstrator so that I can revoke local admin rights for my user account and also so if I change my user account password I don't have to modify the backup job.

Hi,

In Control Panel->Scheduled Tasks->FBackup 5, what is the action configured to run?

Task Name: fba_Dale-DataBackup
Location: \Softland\FBackup 5
Trigger is daily at 9:00 PM
Actions: Start a program
Program/Script: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Softland\FBackup 5\bSchedStarter.EXE"
Arguments: /R "{EC3D2FF8-78E8-4CC4-A634-EE65EC328A8C}" -PRIORITY 2 -FNT
Start In: C:\Program Files (x86)\Softland\FBackup 5\

If I run that task completes successfully, but nothing happens in FBackup. No change to the Last Job Logs.

Hi,

Please go to Control Panel->Task Scheduler and open Softland->FBackup 5 on the left column tree.
Find the task created for your job, starting with fba_
While FBackup is closed, right click it and select Run.
Let us know if FBackup starts the backup execution.

I tried this:

Please go to Control Panel->Task Scheduler and open Softland->FBackup 5 on the left column tree.
Find the task created for your job, starting with fba_
While FBackup is closed, right click it and select Run.
Let us know if FBackup starts the backup execution.

The task runs and completes successfully as far as Task Scheduler shows, but nothing happens in fbackup. No backup happens, no change to the backup logs.

Hi,

Please make sure the bSchedStarter.EXE process is not blocked by the antivirus/firewall.

I have disabled antivirus and turned off the firewall and there is no change. Also, I don't see the bSchedStarter.EXE listed in any antivirus or event logs.

Hi,

Can you put that file in the exceptions list of the antivirus?

I've actually removed antivirus from this machine, disabled Windows Firewall and Windows Defender (Win 7 PC). Still no change.

Any ideas?
