How do I move my FBackup jobs to a new computer without creating them again?

Post by danigomez »

I finally replaced my old Windows 10 desktop with a new PC this week, and after installing FBackup I realized none of my scheduled backup jobs were there. The backup files are still on my external drive, so I'm not worried about losing my data, but I had several jobs set up with different schedules, include/exclude filters, and destinations that took a while to configure. Before I spend the evening recreating everything from scratch FNF, is there an easy way to transfer those existing backup jobs and their settings to the new computer? I'm hoping there's an export/import option or a configuration file I can copy over. If anyone has gone through this during a PC upgrade, I'd appreciate hearing what worked for you and whether there were any settings that needed to be adjusted afterward.

Hi,

There are 2 options:

1. When opening in FBackup the .fkc backup catalogs from the backup destination, the scheduled tasks will also be recreated.

OR

2. On the old PC perform a backup of the FBackup configurations, using the "fbackup configurations" plugin as source. Then open the catalog for that job on the new PC and perform the restore.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
