When attempting to install updates, I get the following error message:

C:\Program Files\Softland\FBackup4\FBackup.exe

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file

DeleteFile failed: code 5

Access is Denied.
I install this program on all new Windows 7 OS we are deploying. I wanted to get rid of the OTHER message I've been getting "The parameter "backup" is not a valid backup job or group.
Please note: the users for whom I install this are admins on the box

I have figured out why the updates would not run- i forgot to close out of FBackup before running the update. However, after running the updates(the latest- as of June 24, today). I still have the error message "The parameter "backup" is not a valid backup job or group". Settings all appear to be correct, it looks like the bakcup is running successfully (to a network drive, every 30 minutes for 9 hours beginning at 8 am.) Just not a good message for the end user to continually see.

I need to know how to get rid of it.

Thanks,

lawtech

Hi,
You receive that message because you have a scheduled task on your computer for a job that was deleted.

To delete the invalid task, please go to Start, Control Panel, Task Scheduler.

We have:

1. Deleted tasks from Task Scheduler

2. Deleted Fbackup

3. Deleted all registry settings associated with F Backup.

4. Confirmed Softland folder was deleted from Program files

5. Rebooted machine

6. Reinstall Fbackup and all the original settings are still there.

7. What else needs to be deleted to completely remove all instances of FBackup from the computer??
I even made a copy of the backup folder, deleted the original backup folder. deleted the configuration file from the copy of the backup folder and renamed it to be backup.

Still, when I reinstall fbackup all the original settings are still in Fbackup set up as if the program had never been deleted.

We STILL get the message "parameter Backup is not a valid bakcup job". also, the backup appears to run as scheduled.

Hi,
To delete the program settings, please follow these steps:

1. Close FBackup.

2. Go to C:/Documents and settings/ current user /Application Data/Softland.

3. Rename the "FBackup 4" folder.

here is what I did to uninstall FBackup. First, let's be clear. I WANT to reinstall FBackup- it is working well on some machines.I just need to be able to have a fully clean install.

1. I am working in Windows 7.

2. I uninstalled FBackup at the Control Panel.

3. I searched the C drive to find every instance of either 'Softland' or Fbackup. I deleted all instances.- including any appdata files in default user and "ProgramData\softland\BackupW.ini. Also emptied the recycle bin.

4. I searched the registry for Fbackup and Softland. I deleted all instances.

5. Rebooted the machine. Installed FBackup - the personal settings had NOT re-occurred- figured I was home free.

6. Was almost done with install, decided I'd do updates so I could catch all your fixes. Not a good idea.

7. After doing updates, I went to the FBackup scheduler to schedule jobs- this is where we feel the process is breaking down. first, I saw that there were two backup jobs in the scheduler-New backup.job and newbackup(1).job. At first I was not sure if the (1) job came somehow because of the update. But I'm thinking it came from the New Backup.fkc file in my backup destination folder. This is the ONLY Fbackup file I had not deleted from the first install. I DID keep the backup folder and its contents. I'm wondering if I should have renamed that folder and created a new backup folder. However, this is much to convoluted for all this to have to be necessary.
Also, Now that I have installed the latest updates, not only do I get the 'parameter backup' error but I also get the message "VscSrv2008.exe has stopped working" this happens everytime the automatic backup runs. I have seen the Vsc... error only on the twon machines I ran updates on today.
Any solutions to these problems would be greatly appreciated. I have not had parameter problems on clean installs of Fbackup. However, if for some reason a re-install is required, I see it. I am concerned that in preparing a machine for a new user I will continually see this.

Give me more things to try and I'll gladly help figure out the resolution for this.

Hi,
Please follow these steps:

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Services.

Make sure the “Volume Shadow Copy” service is started and set to Manual.

Let us know if you still have the problem.
The problem with New backup.job and newbackup(1).job is that you used the same name for your backup job.

This is getting no better.
I am starting from a fully clean image which I had to work very hard to get.

I stripped FBackup from every C:\user in win7. Default, any user..

I searched all of C drive for mention fo Softland or FBackup.

I went to the registry and deleted any mention there.

Mind you, this is all after deleting Fbackup from uninstall programs and a system reboot.

I went to the user's H drive, deleted any 'new backup.fkc' file that was there. I renamed the existing backup folder, minus it's fkc file and created a new empty backup folder. I have rebooted multiple times to set all these changes.

I started the Volume Shadow Copy and after my install of Fbackup and setting the source files, I checked for updates and ran them. That ran without the VSC error I was getting earlier.

I ran the first backup- same deal I have been seeing every time- "The parameter "backup" is not a valid backup job or group

There are no stray fkc files anywhere.
I do not know how to get rid of this but I NEED to know.

The backup appears to run as scheduled- there is only one backup job created.

There are no extra fkc files anywhere.
I would not think the destination folder would have to be named FBackup, it gets backed up correctly.
The backup JOB is called New Backup in the FBAckup program, my destination folder is called Backup on the user's network drive.
I am seeing this on multiple user machines. I have run out of ideas.

Just went to C:\Windows\tasks- found old fba backup tasks- I deleted them and will let you know if Fbackup runs without error.

this product is pretty decent if we can get rid of this problem and update your software so old tasks are deleted for deleted Fbackup installs.

I have tested this on two machines. When I went to C:\Windows\tasks and deleted the old fba backup tasks from previous installs, the parameter backup problem has gone away on both machines. (missed those tasks when I searched hard drive and registry because of the abbreviation of task name). Please figure out a way to make old jobs disappear from Windows\tasks when the program is uninstalled.
