I made a maximally simple backup: full, mirror; no compression; no zipping; no password; no encryption.

I see the resulting .fkc file on my external disk. When i click on such file, FBackup opens. But i can't view inside such file with Windows Explorer, which maybe contradicts the built-in Help text: 'A mirror backup ... has the benefit that the backup files can also be readily accessed using tools like Windows Explorer.'

Hi,

The .fkc file is the backup catalog file. It only contains information about the files in backup.
That actual backup you want to browse, is near the .fkc catalog file.

If you used the Full backup type, the resulting file is a zip archive.
If you used the Mirror backup type the resulting files are put in a folder named as the backup job.

details:
- I am viewing all hidden files and items.
- I see the .fkc file.
- The FBackup (4.8) interface states 'Last backup was successful'. (It's backing up every 10 minutes.)

Softland, i think that what you wrote below might not be right; i think that there is not, and should not be, a folder on my external disk with the name of the backup job, as you wrote below.
Instead, because my full Mirror backup selected Create Full Path, therefore my backup is on the external disk simply represented by the folder F:\C\data\current\..., which mirrors my source pc's directories, but gives no clue that such destination folder is associated with FBackup.
Do you agree?

The destination backup folder is not associated with FBackup as it can be browsed using Windows Explorer, not using a special file format.

If you use that option, the path in destination will include the drive letter and all subfolders to your sources.

So if you do a Mirror backup and select Create Full Path (which has various positives), then in order to find the FBackup destination-folder you need to know that the name omits any hint of a connection to FBackup or to the name of the FBackup backup-job.
