I tried many commercial and free programs to find one that will do what I want QUICK and EASY. For my disaster backup/recovery I choose Easus Todo Backup. I does an 18gig backup of my C drive in about 6 minutes, and I tested the restore at about 15 minutes from the boot with the CD I made.
As far as my data, FBackup does all of my requirements. I want a copy of my photos (lots!!), 2 iTune libraries, and the usual My Documents and email. FBackup neatly copies the folder and file structure to my USB drive in folders "C" "D" and "E". I actually backup to 2 USB drives and one job is a straight copy, and the other is a mirror that will also delete files from the target (no longer in the source). Schedule it all, and it's PERFECT!!!
I do however have 2 suggestions. One is that I already had all of my files copied to the destination drive, but FBackup took about 4-5 hours to complete and create it's index. I am guessing you should be able to inventory the source and destination to build a faster 1st index?
2nd, I like the way you can choose/add folders OR files. In the mirror/copy mode, it would be nice to be able to check off on the same dialog screen that you add files or folders if you want to delete target files no longer in the source. IF that is not possible, a work around would be to be able to schedule a backup to start after a current one ends instead of guessing how much time to allocate for the schedules. Actually, make that my 3rd suggestion, I like that idea :)
After the 1st LONG run, if I add about 40 photos, and of course my email files change, the run completes in about 3-4 minutes! Thanks again for a great program!!!

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
How many files and folders you have in sources? The time necessarily to check for new and modified files in sources depends on that.
I am not sure I understand correctly the second request. In Backup Properties->Mirror you have the option to "Remove excluded or deleted files from backup".
Scheduling a backup group feature is available only in our commercial edition: Backup4all

"I am not sure I understand correctly the second request. In Backup Properties->Mirror you have the option to "Remove excluded or deleted files from backup"."
When you are making a copy of your data to an external drive in the Mirror mode, it basically COPIES your files of the drives and folders I selected to the destination. There is also a check box I can set, so that it also REMOVES data from the Destination IF it no longer exists on the Source.
My feature request was that instead of checking that REMOVE setting for the whole backup script, that I can check it on or off as I add a source folder or drive.
Example:

One of my folders I add is My Documents, and if I don't want FBackup to delete files from the destination in case I need them later.
Another folders would be my Windows Live Mail and Firefox folders. I DO want FBackup to add and DELETE files from the destination to make an exact mirror of those folders.
Currently I have to choose if I want to use the Delete files from the Destination for all of the items I added to the script. My suggestion that that feature be put on the same screen as where you add files or folders, and that you could check that feature on a folder or drive as you add them to your backup script. I hope that is clearer :)
Also, as I have been using the program a few days now, I still really do like it as it completes in about 3-4 minutes and it is simple and clean. When I run scheduled backups, the program window comes on the screen. I don't care if it does or does not, but it does not close after the backup. After the backup is complete, *IF* there was a message the user needed to know, I would understand this, but the open screen is the same as if you just started the program.

Hi,
I now understand your feature request. At this moment we don't have plans to add such a feature.
Regarding the "Close after backup" problem, please note in Backup Properties->Scheduler->Edit Properties, there is an option "Close after run". Please check it and FBackup will close after the backup is finished.

Please note this scenario works only if FBackup application is started by the scheduler, not if it was already running.
