Answer this and you win my respect for life:
I have set FBackup to make a mirror backup of External Drive F. The Destination is External Drive G. These Mirror Type Backups are done on an hourly basis.
The Problem: FBackup obviously has someway of knowiwng which files has changed and all future backups only backup changed files. That's great ... however ...
When I roll my computer back to a previous snapshot ... then the first FBackup session takes an unnecessarily long time because FBackup suddenly finds itself looking at an older version of the information that tells it which files to backup. Accordingly it starts backing up loads of video files that are already backed up to the G Drive ... except that FBackup does not realise this because it is looking at outdated or "Rolled Back Instructions" regarding what to backup.
The problem could easily be solved if:

(a) I knew of a way to install FBackup to either one of my 2TB external Drives (because then the "Instructional File" or the file that tells FBackup which files have changed ... will itself NOT be affected when I rollback my computer to a previous snapshot because I ONLY Rollback the C Drive. I do NOT rollback the External Drives.
(b) There was a way to change the location of the FBackup "Instructional File" so that it is saved to either of my external hard drives and NOT onto the C Drive given that the C Drive is subject to being rolled back quite regularly (Every time I need to add new software or updates ... I first rollback, then add new software or updates, then take a new snapshot and then baseline same)
Please note: Asking Rollback not to rollback the FBackup Instructional File is not an option because this otherwise ideal procedure totally messes us Rollback's performance big time.
So ... please tell me

(a) how to install FBackup onto an external drive and / or ...

(b) how to change the location of the Instructional File so that it resides on either of my external drives and / or

(c) What the actual name of the "Instructional" FBackup File is so that I can, as a last ditch workaround ... backup this file up and then copy and paste it back into FBackup immediately after Rolling Back and just before FBackup runs for the first time.

(d) about any other great work around you have.
Before submitting ideas that will take as much or more agro and keystrokes as per the current situation, please bear in mind everything is already working fine but not perfectly ... so keep in mind I am looking for a fully automated streamlined solution as per my indications above or "similar".
I am running the following software:
FBackup Version 4.8 Build 286

Windows 7 Ultimate Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

RollBack RX Professional v9.1
Thanks in anticipation & God Bless!

Hi,

(a) You cannot install FBackup on an external drive. That can be made only with Backup4all Portable edition.

(b) You cannot change the settings folder location in FBackup. Such an option is available only in Backup4all, our commercial edition.

(c) The catalog file for each backup job is also stored in the backup destination and it's named this way: backup_job.fkc (where backup_job is the name of that job in FBackup)
