Just tried my first backup and when I go to the drive destination drop down there is no E drive listed, which is my DVD/CD drive. Any idea why that drive does not show up in my choices? I tried to add it through what the help menu said but no luck.

Hi,
CD/DVD destinations are allowed only in our commercial edition: Backup4all

Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

What about local USB drive? Is that only in the commercial version too? I do not see a USB drive that is connected to my computer. Only the c: drive.

Hi,
The USB drives are available in FBackup.

The problem apparently is that the USB drive is mounted after FBackup starts, so FBackup does not detect the presence of the USB drive. I have FBackup configured to run at Windows startup. My computer has an SSD, so it boots and launches startup programs very quickly. Apparently so quickly that the USB drive is not mounted when FBackup starts. Then when you run the FBackup wizard, or try to edit backup properties, FBackup does show the USB drive in the dropdown list of external drives.
If I boot the computer, then start FBackup manually, FBackup sees the USB drive no problem. So is my explanation possible, or might it be something else?
(By the way, I really like FBackup, so don't want to just sound like a complainer :) Just wanted to let you know about this problem.)

Hi,
Yes, that could be the problem. FBackup can see only the devices that are already connected when it starts.
