Hi I have just installed FBackup and am puzzled that I cannot back up to a file on my second pc. I get the window where it offers a network location, I browse, find the file but then the "ok" box is greyed out. Am I doing something wrong please?

Hi Simon,
We found the problem when trying to configure a backup to network. This problem will be fixed in the next build. In the meantime, you can type the UNC path to the backup destination folder.

Many thanks for the post, I have typed in the file path and that has solved the problem.

I've just downloaded the latest "FREE" version of FBackup and I tried to backup from one networked PC to another networked PC. It's telling me I need to register?
Funny thing though... IT'S NOT TELLING ME HOW TO REGISTER.
It also provided this info in the logs.......

Hi,
The message you receive is not correct as you don't need to register. We will fix that.

Please not that the network sources are not allowed in FBackup.

Sorry, but are you contradicting yourself here. I'm confused. Simon seems to have had a similar problem and the response you gave hime was

Am I missing something here

Dear Jerbear,
There is no contradiction.

Please note that you can back up to a network destination, but you cannot back up files from a network computer.

There is a difference between the backup sources and the backup destination.

Dear Admin,
I was googling the FBackup error message "Adding files and folders from a network drive is not allowed." and came upon this Forum thread.
In my work, multiple people maintain a network folder with reference documents. New references documents are placed there periodically by various people. When I am traveling and/or unable to connect to the internet, I would like to have access to a "local" copy of this repository on my laptop. Ideally I would like to use FBackup to maintain a mirror of this shared network folder on my laptop's C drive.
Are there future plans with FBackup to enable mirroring/backup where the source is a network drive and the destination is a local (e.g. laptop) drive? Was curious as to the reason that this is currently not allowed?
Thanks for your insights!
All the Best,
Bill
P.S. FBackup is a very user friendly backup tool! Great job!

Hi,
At this moment, that feature is not available in FBackup.
If you need to back up files from a network location, we recommend you to try our commercial product: Backup4all
