I had a PC die, and replaced it with one that was nearly identical. Both using XP SP3.
I use a 32GB Flash drive to backup my files with FBackup (destination drive). On the original PC it was drive G, and on the new PC it was assigned drive F, due to one less optical drive.
When I loaded FBackup on the new PC, I double clicked the catalog files on the destination drive to create the backup jobs and the new catalog and ini files on the C drive.
That's when I got all sorts of errors and was not able to use the Restore function of FBackup.
After loading all the files manually (which took many hours), I noticed within the removable drive property, there is a check-box for "Lock the Destination drive for this removable drive"
I'm assuming that this has something to do with locking the drive letter to FBackup so the destination (Flash) drive can be moved to a new PC and keep the same drive letter?
Questions:
1) What is the function of this check-box (above), and why is it only present for removable media and not an external hard drive?
2) Must I keep the same drive letter on the destination drive when moving to a new PC?
3) Where can I find the exact step-by-step instructions for moving the destination drive to a new PC and using Restore in FBackup? (It works fine on the same PC).
4) What did I do wrong?
Thank You...
