Version 5 fails due to IPC server error

This is on build 242. Part way through a backup task, I get an error message saying the IPC server stopped, do I want to reconnect - it never does.

Why does there have to be any connection to your "pipe server" (whatever that is) whilst I am backing up my files to my USB hard disk?

I can see no reason why your server should be involved - can I stop it by changing options or something else?

Hi,

There is all locally on your computer, that is not about a server located here.
There is a file bservice which process the commands (backup, restore, test, import etc) to the correct exe file.
If the connection with the service is interrupted, the commands won't arrive to the desired exe file.
With all that, the backup in progress should continue to run normally.

I am having the same issue as Salisburyblue. I understand that the IPC process is done locally on the machine, what would the name of the service be as it is not IPC? That way I may manually restart the service, so I can continue my backup.
Also, Is there a fix for this issue in the near future?

Hi,

We don't have such problems here.
The service name is bservice.exe. Please make sure it is not stopped by the antivirus or firewall.

I have checked that my antivirus system (MSSE) is not blocking it. I am unsure why the Firewall would need to be touched for something that runs only on my machine, but it does appear that a number of FBackup items do have entries in the allowed list (FBackup itself and the bBackup, bRestore and bTest apps), but these do not include one for bService. If this is the answer, does your installation process need updating to add this? Can I add it manually for now?

Hi,

Yes, please put bservice.exe in the exceptions list.

Hi,

Do you have the same problem with version 5.0.336 of FBackup?
