Please follow these steps to fix the problem:

1. Go to the list of Services and stop the FBackup5Srv service

2. Kill any FBackup processes that are listed in Task Manager:
FBackup.exe
bTray.exe
bShutdownSched.exe
bService.exe
bBackup.exe
bTest.exe
bRestore.exe
bCleanup.exe

3. Start the FBackup 5 service again (the one stopped in step 1)

4. Start FBackup

Does it show the same message about IPC server?

Hello Softland and arcarter

Did the solution work for you?
I have the exact same problem on a similar system (Windows 7 Pro 64 bit) and this solution doesn't work for me.
I have not done any software or system changes or installations recently. Never had a problem with FBackup before but now it just doesn't go.
Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you.

Looks like my problem is solved. Re-installed FBackup 5.1 build 558 and it all works again. My problem version was 5.0 build 468. I still have no idea what exactly was the issue with it.

Hi,

Please put all FBackup exe files (or the entire FBackup installation folder) in the exceptions list of the antivirus/firewall.
Do you still have the problem?

I have this problem since installing to 5.2 build 663.

I do not know how to turn off FBackup5Srv. Please explain.

@johnhidley:

You don't need to stop that process, as it is needed for FBackup to run. You need to put bservice.exe in the exceptions list of the antivirus and firewall.
