Very slow program start

Post by tonu99 »

I love FBackup, but it is extremely annoying that when I run program it takes at least a minute or two until it is ready for use. I see it it is trying to connect to mapped drives and stucks there. Couple of my mapped drives are through VPN (normally VPN not connected as I use these very rarely), but these drives are not included in any backup jobs. Please fix this bug. Program should not deal with these mapped drives if these are not included into backup jobs.

Hi,

FBackup will check and will try to connect to all available drives, no matter if they are used or not by a backup job. FBackup has to list all available drives in case you decide to create a new backup job to any available destination drive.

Hi there! I completely agree! I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I've been using FBackup for years, and the one thing that consistently annoys me is how long it takes to start up. I'm not sure why it's trying to connect to mapped drives, but it's really frustrating. I hope the developers can find a way to fix this soon. I think it should be mended as soon as possible, as it creates a lot of discomfort for many people.

Hi,

FBackup gets the list of the available drives from Windows and it does not know which one is connected, disconnected or available only on access. If there is a network computer in sleep which wakes up on lan access, there needs to be some retries with a wait time between, in order to access those drives too.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
