Could not start Test for job...

I'm new to FBackup. So far I've created 3 backup jobs. All were successfully created. But when I try to test them, each one fails with a pop-up: Could not start Test for job "xxxx". In the test log I see:
Error: Access violation at address 0032FD80 in module 'bTest.exe'.
Here's an example of the end of the backup log for one job. Note that it states "test" finished, so I don't understand why a manually initiated test can't even be started.
Test finished in 3:09 minute(s) at 10/13/2024 6:25:05 PM, 11482 file(s) and 1112 folder(s) tested, 0 error(s) and 0 warning(s) found
Total number of files added to backup: 11482
Total number of folders added to backup: 1112
Total size of files added to backup: 10,959,531.20 KB
Number of files excluded: 0
Number of folders excluded: 0
Next scheduled backup: Not scheduled
Backup completed in 11:24 minute(s) at 10/13/2024 6:25:05 PM with 0 error(s), 0 warning(s)
I have FBackup version 9.9. I'm doing a mirror backup to an external hard drive.
I'm on an Acer Aspire AV15 running Windows 11 Home version 23H2. It has the latest updates.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
Ron
