I'm a brand new FBackup user and I'm trying to set up my first backup job. I'm mainly concerned with backing up files from my external hard drive, which contains a lot of important documents and media.

I've been looking through the documentation and forum, but I'm still a bit unsure about the best way to handle external drives. Specifically, I'm wondering:

• Should I create a separate backup job for the external drive, or include it in my main backup?

• Are there any specific settings I should be aware of when backing up external drives (e.g., handling drive letter changes, ensuring the drive is connected)?

• What's the best way to verify the integrity of backups from an external drive?

• Are there any recommendations for how often I should back up an external drive, especially if the files change frequently?

I'm using FBackup to back up to another external drive. Any tips or best practices you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

When backing up from an external drive, it should be better to use a separate backup job, as there could be cases when the drive is not connected to your computer.
Also we recommend to check if the drive letter of the external drive is correct, before running the backup.

After each backup execution, FBackup will perform a test for that backup, to make sure the backup is fine.

The frequency of the backup should be every day, if you have files changing often.
