Dear All,
Can FBackup (free version) backup to an eSata drive?
At the moment, my latest version of FBackup (just downloaded and installed it) only seems to backup to USB or firewire (IEEE 1394) drives.
Most new laptops only have eSata and not firewire as a connection.
Any clues?
All the best, cheers and enjoy.
Michael

Hi,
You cannot use that destination type with FBackup.

You can try using Backup4all, our commercial product.

Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html

Dear Admin,
Many thanks for this.
So, Backup4all can save to eSata drives?
Cheers and enjoy.

Dear Admin,
I got it to work with FBackup as well as Backup4all Lite and Pro.
The trick is an eSata drive is recognized as a Local drive (NOT an external drive), as it uses the same type of SATA connection as an internal Local drive, so it is recognized as such. When you go to the drop-down list of local drives, the external eSata drive is listed as a local drive, but is not listed as an external drive.
This behaviour is the same across all versions, including the free Fbackup.
I hope this helps.
All the best, cheers and enjoy.
Michael
PS - so no need to purchase Backup4all if one does not need the extra functionality. M
