FireFox plugin

Post by drtim »

Can you please confirm for me that when using the FireFox plugin that a complete backup of bookmarks is done? And if I ever needed to just extract from the FireFox profile the bookmarks how would I do that? Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, using the Firefox plugin, you will also back up the bookmarks.
You can only restore the entire profile folder, not the bookmarks individually.

Is there a way to back up the Firefox bookmarks only? If not via FBackup, can you recommend something else? Thanks.

Hi,

You can backup only the bookmarks from Firefox (places.sqlite file) but you might need the entire Profile folder in order to get it to work.
That is why we recommend you to back up the entire Firefox data.

But what should we do when we don't need all of Firefox's data, as if we needed just some of it?

Hi,

The file "places.sqlite" stores the annotations, bookmarks, favorite icons, input history, keywords, and browsing history. You can back up and restore only this file which is located in the profile folder of Mozilla Firefox.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
