TYPE 'use adaptive buffer size' & .FKC questions

Post by fitness88 »

FBackup v.8.9 question:
In properties, type, other, there is no explanation for 'use adaptive buffer size'.
What does it do if you put a check mark or no check mark?
I read the .FKC file gets deleted after each backup, I have 2 inside the backup folder. What do they do, can they be deleted?

      Thank you.

      Hi,

      1. The "Use adaptive buffer size" is used when you use the mirror backup type to a network destination.
It will use different buffer size according to the files size, in order to get a faster copy process.

      2. The .fkc file is the backup catalog used by FBackup. It does not get deleted after each backup.
Do not delete that file as it is mandatory when you want to update/restore the backup.

      Thanks for the information...appreciate it!
Should I only have 1 .fkc file in the backup folder as I actually have 2, should the older .fkc be deleted?

      Hi,

There should be only 1 .fkc catalog file for each job (in destination).
If you have two .fkc files, you can delete the oldest one.

Very good then, interestingly enough the second .FKC disappeared on its own.
      Thanks.
