Hard drive failed. How do I restore the data?

Post by ndwlns »

Our server hard drive failed 2 days ago and nothing could be recovered. They installed a new hard drive and everything is back up and running. The backup was on an external hard drive. On the external I see a folder with 3 compressed (zip) files, one from last Sunday which is when the backup runs every week. I tried to extract this folder, but it stopped responding after waiting quite a while. I also see the kfc file as well with the same date as the compressed file. Is this what I use to recover the backup?? I guess it opens in the FBackup program. Thanks for any imput.

Hi,

You can open the .fkc catalog file in FBackup (from File->Open) and you will be able to restore the backup with FBackup.
You can also use WinZip or 7zip to extract the zip file. These applications should be able to handle large zip files.
Do you know you can monitor your backups remotely with Backup4all Monitor? You can read more here: https://www.backup4all.com/backup4all-monitor.html
