FBackup aborts backup

Post by akg2011b »

I was using an old version of FBackup for a long time without any problems. However, I recently upgraded to FBackup 8.1.202. Since then, I am unable to backup. Everytime I start a backup job with the new version, when the process is almost completed, the backup aborts itself. Sometimes, the backup aborts during the testing phase. The following message appears in the log file: Warning: Decompression error.

Hi,

Decompression error indicate there could be a problem with the hard drive or the RAM memory.
Do you have enough free disk space on your C: drive? (at least 130 GB)
Can you create a zip file larger than your RAM memory size, using WinZip?

Thank you for your reply and your comments.

I have 226 Gb free hard disk space on my C: drive (pls see the attached file: "hard disk space.png").
I have 5.86 Gb usable RAM out of a total RAM capacity of 6 GB (see the attached file: "installed memory RAM.png").

Do you think these capacities would cause the decompression error problem?

I haven't tried your other suggestion yet, i.e. did not create a zip file larger than my RAM memory size, using WinZİp.

Hi,

The HDD and RAM capacity is fine.
Please run a scandrive for errors on drive C: and create a zip archive larger than 6 GB (to test RAM).

Per your suggestion, I attempted to create a zip file larger than my RAM memory size (6 Gb), using WinZip. I am not a WinZip user, so I downloaded and used the trial version for this purpose only and created a zip file containing multiple directories totaling more than 10 Gb in size. Screen shots are attached. First, a message appeared saying "WinZip encountered problems during this operation". However, when I viewed the "Last Output", it did not list any problems at the end of the report. It just showed that 11.3 Gb was compressed to 10.3Gb with 9% savings. Finally, when the compression process was over, the "Add Complete" window appeared showing the sizes of the zip file before and after compression, total number of files and the space saving. It looks like a zip archive larger than the RAM memory size of 6 Gb was successfully created. I did not run a scandrive for errors on drive C: yet.
